The Emergency Medicine Department was organized in 2017 on the basis of the Department of Disaster Medicine. Since 1993, it was headed by Dyussupov Akhmetkali Zainoldaevich which is an orthopedicand traumatologist of the highest category (1993), Corresponding Member of NAAS RK, Doctor of Medical Sciences (1990), Professor (1994).
The medical and advisory work of the department staff is carried out in the Emergency Medicine Department, in the Cardiology, Pulmonology, Traumatology departments of the Emergency Hospital, Emergency Department of the University hospital of the Semey Medical University, Zhamilya medical center.
At the Department of Emergency Medicine, students of the 5th course of the faculty of General Medicine, interns-therapists of the 6th course, interns-pediatricians of the 7th course, residents, pediatricians are trained. Since the founding of the Department of Emergency Medicine, employees have been actively involved in the methodological, scientific and medical work of the University. Methodical materials were prepared and more than 400 doctors and nurses of the emergency medicine departments of the Republic of Kazakhstan were trained in the medical patient sorting system at the hospital stage according to the emergency condition severity index (ESI) and emergency care algorithms based on the university’s educational and clinical center.
For the first time in Kazakhstan, 26 doctors underwent retraining and received a specialist certificate of “Emergency and Emergency Medical Aid”. Employees of the department formed a roadmap for emergency medicine for 2018-2019. Standardized operational procedures for triage of patients with emergency conditions at the hospital stage were created. Employees of the department are actively involved in scientific activities, annually occupy leading positions in the department’s ranking in scientific work, take part in the implementation of scientific and technical programs of the university, prepare undergraduates and PhD doctoral students, publish research results in international peer-reviewed journals indexed in the Scopus scientometric databases and Web of Science, speak at international conferences in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the near and far abroad, conduct courses to improve the scientific competence of teaching staff in the framework of the project on the development of the university. All employees were trained in the specialty on the basis of foreign clinics in the USA, Turkey, Israel, and the UK. The department operates a student scientific circle.
From 2019, it is planned to conduct training for residents in the specialty “Emergency Medicine”.
