The department was organized in 1977 as “Propaedeutics of childhood diseases”, then renamed the department “Children’s diseases”. In 2018, it was renamed into the department “Propaedeutics of childhood diseases”. At various times, the department was headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, docent N.S. Galyautdinova (1977-1979), M.D. Professor G.A. Tuleutaeva (1979-1985 and 1988-1993), Candidate of Medical Sciences ,docent S.A.Altynbekova (1986-1987), Doctor of Medical Sciences Professor E.T. Dadambaev (1987-1988), Candidate of Medical Sciences, docent F.M. Ashimov (1993-2001). Candidate of Medical Sciences, docent Zh.K. Zhagiparov (2001-2018). Since 2018, the department is headed by Candidate of Medical Sciences, docent Toktabaeva B.Zh.
Employees of the department defended 9 theses (6 Ph.D., 3 doctoral), 2 master and 1 PhD doctoral. An average of 25 scientific papers are published annually, including in English, including articles with impact factors. Practiced joint publications with practitioners and students of practical health care. It should be noted productive activity of SSS. For many years, scientific student reports have taken only the first prizes. There are patents, pre-patents for inventions, rationalization proposals. Teachers and students speak at international conferences (Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic — 04/22/11, Moscow, Russian Federation – 03/21/13, Nagasaki, Japan-2016, etc.). In 2014-2016 The scientific and technical program “Ecology and the state of health of children living on the territory of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site” was implemented. The members of the department participate in diverse Improvement Projects – “Organization of assistance to children with limited physical and mental abilities in Semey” –2015, “Stars 15” –2016, “Childhood without anemia and hypoxia” –2017. Patronage with the provision of material assistance to orphan students. Charitable events are traditionally held in the orphanage and hospitals. In order to exchange experience in 2017, he was invited to the university M.D. StephanIlling, Stuttgart, Germany. In general, 40% of employees improved their skills in non-CIS countries (USA, Germany, Japan). In 2018, the department was included in the long-term International Project “Science for Peace and Security” – NATO, Norway, Belgium (co-director of the docent Zhagiparova Zh.K.).
