If history of our University has begun since 1952, so the Neurology Chair one origin from 1958.

The first Head of the Chair was Dmitriev Igor Alexandrovich, an author of reasurchworks with the main direction about reflective mechanisms of theromoregulation in case of brain blood circulation disturbances. It was included only one assistent – Belakove M.I. in the Chair staff.

In 1963 Vysotzki Gennadiy Iakovlevich headed the Chair,  a disciple of a famous neurologist, genetist with the world name pofessor Davidenkov S.N.

Gennadiy Iakovlevich's reasurchwork was dedicated to patholgy of vegetative nervous system, it was published monograph  «Systemic and focal scleroderma» and a doctor dissertation «Vegetative trophic changes of the skin in case of lesion of the nervous system at different levels» was defensed.

During 1.5 years (1978-1980) the Chair was occupied by a participator of the World War II, professor Zagorovski Evgeniy Petrovich, depicted pathogenesis, treatment and prophylaxis of viscero-reflective diseases of the nervous system.

In 1980 Korin Mark Michaylovich, docotor of medical science, professor, headed the Chair of nervous diseases and neurosurgery. Korin made his invaluable contribution to the worl neurological science, published in 1971 reasurchwork «Clinico-experimental studying of pathogenesi of multiple sclerosis. He was the first who had substantiated metabolic hypothesis of pathogenesis of a demielinating process.

Ivanov Lev Anatolievich, docent, headed the Chair after G.G. Bryzhakhin (1998), made his brilliant contribution to organisation and foundation of neurosurgical service in the Weastern Kazakhstan. A way of the surgical treatment of vertebral nerve syndrome, new methods of treatment and rehabilitation of the patients with vertebral osteochondrosis were trained and incerted  by him and co-authors.From 1992 till 1994 the Chair was ruled by a docotor of medical science, professor Bryzhakhin Gennadi Grigorievich. G.G. Bryzhakhin's reasurchworks were dedicated to studying of influences of radiation sickness on a cerebral hemodynamics, pathology of vegetative and the peripheral nervous system.

Khaibullin Talgat Nurmukhanovich, graduated the Medical faculty of the Semipalatinsk State Medical Institute in 1978. After one year of the intership on the base of the neurological department of Pavlodar Regional Hospital and three years of a practical work as a neurologist in City Hospital of Yermak city of Pavlodar region, he was trained in the Clinical internship at the Chair of nervous diseases of the above mentioned institution in 1982-1984. Talgat Nurmukhanovich's working life more than 20 years is linked with  the Semipalatinsk State Medical Institute, and now the University. From 1984 till 1994 he worked as an assistent, and from 1994 – as an Associate Professor of the Chair of nervous diseases and neurosurgery with medical genetics course of SSMI. From 1994 till the present days – the Head of Neurology and Neurosurgery Chair of SMU of Semey city. In 2007 defensed doctors dissertation about «Clinico-epidemiological and ethnic pecularities of the main risk factors and somatic pathology in case of brain stroke amongst the Western Kazakhstan population».

Besides, Kipervas I.P., Ravinskaya A.F., Lobko V.S., Bisembin U.I., Kuzhakhmetova Zh.I., Rybakov G.F., Urikh E.A., Saporova R.B., Orynkhanova K.R., Muravieva N.O., Kurkumbaeva S.T., Viktorova Y.S., Kabenova S.S. worked in the Neurology Chair at different years.

2 Associate Professors, 6 assistents, 2 lab assistents. The lessons are tought in four faculties: General Medicine, Stomatological, Nurse work one in three languages – Kazakh, English and Russian.

Kaymak Tatyana Vladimirovna, c.m.s., Associate Professor, Kaymak, TV, and in 1987 graduated with honors SSMI specialty "medicine"; post-graduate study in myasthenic Union Center at the Institute of General Pathology and Pathological Physiology AMS USSR, in 1990, defended his thesis on "The Influence of peptide fractions thymus on the status of neuromuscular transmission and during the pathological process in infants. "After graduate school, she worked as a neurologist at the hospital and health center of Novgorod. From September 1991 to present – Associate Professor of Neurology, Psychiatry and Narcology (Addiction) SMU of Semey city.

Bikbaev Rinat Muratovich finished Pediatrics Semipalatinsk State Medical Academy in 2003; specialty "Pediatrics." During the period from September 2003 to June 2004 was a one-year internship at the base SGMA specialty physician – Children's neurologist. On September 1, 2004 working at the Department of Neurology of the SMU of Semey city as an assistant. He is a physician of the first qualifying category.

Mansurov Ruslan Gafurovich, in 1997, enrolled at the medical faculty of Semipalatinsk State Medical Academy and in 2003 completed a full course called the Academy. After completing one year of internship on the basis of CTC SGMA in 2004, worked in the State-owned
Commercial “Zhelezinka CRH” of Pavlodar region as a neurologist, combining a head of department of therapeutic and medical oncologist. From 2007 he worked as a neurologist in the Department of Reanimation and Intensive care of Emergency Medical aid Hospital in the neurological department of the said hospital. From 2008 occupies a position of an assistant professor of neurology SGMA with the English language training. In the 2009-2010 academic year served as an assistant chair of the Internal Medicine Propedeutics of the SMU of Semey city, where he conducted classes in English, Kazakh and Russian languages. In June 2010, awarded the first qualification category of specialty “Physician neurologist”. In September 2010, based on the SMU of Semey city has been trained at the International Workshop Master Class "Innovative Technologies and Management in Medical Education"  of Singapore Professor D. Samarasekera. From 2010 to the present day an assistant professor of neurology, psychiatry, and Narcology above named university.

Bryzhakhin Dmitri Pavlovich in 1997 he graduated the Medical Faculty of the Semipalatinsk State Medical Academy. From 1997 to 1999 he studied in the Clinical internship at the Department of Nervous Diseases of SGMA. From 1999 to 2006 worked as a neurologist in the Department of Reanimation and Intensive care of Emergency Medical aid Hospital. From October 2006 he is working at the Chair of Neurology of the SMU of Semey city as an assistant. He is a physician of the first qualifying category.

Tusupbekova Anargul Kalievna In 2002 she graduated the Medical Faculty of the Semipalatinsk State Medical Academy, from September 2002 to June 2003 was held internship as a doctor-neurologist. Since September 2003 working at the Chair of Neurology SGMA as an assistant of the Chair; she is a physician of the first qualifying category.

Kalieva Aizhan Kurmanovna. In 2002 she graduated the Medical Faculty of the Semipalatinsk State Medical Academy, from September 2002 to June 2003 was held internship as a doctor-neurologist. Since September 2003 working at the Chair of Neurology SGMA as an assistant of the Chair; she is a physician of the first qualifying category. She works since 2006 in the Chair.

Department of Neurology and Neurophysiology

Head of the Department Khaibullin T.N. and assistant professor of Kaymak T.V. spend counseling the most severe patients in neurological department, conduct clinical analytical patients with involvement of residents and medical students; assistants of the Chair advises: Bikbaev R.M. in the surgical department, Mansurov R.G. gastroenterological, ENT and Department of Maxillofacial Surgery; Bryzhakhin D.P. rheumatology department, Tusupbekova A.K., A.K. Kalieva – Conduct ward patients in the neurological Department. Employees of the department hold regular clinical conferences using new technology, with an invitation of the doctors of different departments of hospitals and clinics, medical staff and management of the University. At the department is constantly educational work among the students on important youth issues and holds regular information policy, debates, meetings with specialists from various branches of medicine and psychology to increase the level of culture and the problems encountered by students. At the Chair, an assistant professor Kaymak T.V. leads a student scientific circle, where students study the neurology more detail perform a student’s research work and participate in the student conferences; she is also responsible for career-oriented work in the Chair. Bikbaev R.M., head teacher and assistant of the Chair, coordinates the activities of all staff, conducting EMG investigation of patients, paying particular attention to patients with lesions of the peripheral nervous system. Mansurov R.G., an assistant of the Chair is responsible for the tutorial work in the Chair, as well as a senior curator at the Chair of the students with English language learning. Bryzhakhin D.P., an Assistant Professor is responsible for the clinical work at the Chair, and assistant Tusupbekova A.K. – for innovation. All members of the Chair are working constantly to improve the quality of education.

The main scientific directions of the Chair are to develop new methods of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with cerebrovascular disease and multiple sclerosis, as well as studying diseases of peripheral nervous system and neuromuscular diseases.
