On October 27, 2019, students of the foreign branch of Semey Medical University traditionally celebrated the big and significant holiday of Diwali. Diwali (Deepavali) in India is one of the largest Hindu festivals, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm. The holiday is celebrated for 5 consecutive days, the 3rd day is considered the most important – it is at this time that the Festival of Lights takes place. Colorful fireworks are arranged for the holiday, traditional dip lamps and candles are lit around their houses to attract the goddess of wealth and prosperity Lakshmi. Deepavali is often compared to the European New Year.
This year the festival was attended by employees of the School of Medicine, faculty members and administrators of the university’s dormitories. The festival presented traditional Indian cuisine, national dishes that students prepared with their own hands, students were dressed in national costumes. The holiday was celebrated very cheerfully, at the end of the holiday memorable photos were taken.
